Let history show that the recent Senate vote is totally at odds with the majority of US citizens opinion.  Only a voter mandate in 2010 will tell, however, the system has been exposed.  Anyone with an ounce of common sense can see how corrupt the system is by allowing blattant extorsion by certain state senators to sell their ideals for a local windfall, totally unrelated to the cause of heath care reform.  Were these added costs added to the CBO payback?  Why is this practice any different than allowing corporations from bribbing clients to pay a certain price for their goods or services?  All these false deadlines (Memorial Day, Labor Day, before the Winter recess, Christmas))are a true indicator of the real value of program.  All I can say is that now that they have jammed this down our throats, we will have the final say shortly, and when the results are in, maybe they will finally get it!

Nice to see you found a new home, and have a job.  I thought you were a do-nothing when you were part of the California legislature, and I was correct. Now you're doing as much in Congress, thanks to the good 'n dumb people of Placer County. First they had Doolittle. Now they have Do Nothing. Way to go, fella. Just don't hire your wife as your main lobbyist.

Thank you for the empty insults, they are a welcome indicator that Sen. McClintock is in fact waging a good war. In other words, Sen. McClintock represents all the values many have waited and waited and waited for: Fiscal responsibility, limited government, and a free market. Someone who actually believes in those wonderful documents called the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I trust Sen. McClintock to continue to wage battle against politics-as-usual, out-of-control spending,  special interests dominating the media and U.S. economy at the expense of the American working class.

Let the American worker keep what he's earned, allow him to give to whom and how much he sees fit rather than be forced to give to our government who gives to the undeserving. No more undeserved bailouts and stimulus, thereby merely enabling spoiled labor unions, overgrown government, special interests.  The current national administration disrespects individual intellect and is full of insidious elitists, not true Americans beholden to its Constitution and valid citizenry.  No more to those who have not earned their citizenship in the United States...disrespecting those who worked to become valid citizens and all whose hard won earnings are being given away to those who disrespect our Constitution and people, including but not limited to, unworthy career politicians and wasteful government spending. Let's keep the individual's tax monies local as much as possible so that there can be accountability by the local neighborhood.

I feel there truly is a change in the wind. Your empty insults are a welcome confirmation and it is very exciting. Sen. McClintock is a warrior for all that is and was good in the United States and is fighting alongside all patriots for that change.

Well stated. I agree insults are  a mark of weakness. I am a registered Republican but detest the direction our party has taken.  I also detest the direction the Democratic party has taken. What does that make me? My problem with both parties is that our creative energy gets spent trying to prove "others" are wrong.  How can we every move forward? How nice it would be if, instead of hurling insults, which only alienates and divides us, instead we had productive conversations that go something like: "I agree that it is important for us to have .... . " "What I don't agree with is .....  because..." For example, "I agree it is important for us to be fiscally responsible because the debt we are creating by not maintaining a balanced budget will sooner or later bankrupt us. What I don't agree with is saying we cannot afford the proposed health care expenditures because we seem to be able to afford a war in Iraq and Afghanistan which certainly is not fiscally responsible."

Imagine what might happen if all web posts show respect for the other person's perspective in this way. We might rediscover what we in the country really stand for rather than just stand against.

Anybody agree? Anybody disagree?
